On Saturday, 29th of April, we were fortunate and honored to host the first screening of the documentary “Frenchy Dreams of Hashish”. We decided at the last minute to host an event for the occasion, and what an event it was.
Read more: Frenchy Dreams of HashishThe day was planned to be a day to honour the master craftsman Frenchy Cannoli and the knowledge he has shared with the cannabis community for decades. Frenchy was a much loved and respected legend in cannabis culture and it would be silly not to make a day of something so big.
With the help of bubble hash makers Mark and Grant, the day was started with processing cannabis flower using Frenchy’s method of making bubble hash. About 18 Cannafam club members joined us on the day and watched and learnt about processing cannabis using easy natural methods, of only ice and water.

Saturday afternoon we made bubble hash and braaied meat. Several members brought over their own concentrates and shared it among others. In the evening the live screening of what we had been waiting for took place around 6.30pm. The documentary by Jeff Remington was absolutely brilliant and captured the vision of Frenchy Cannoli’s master craft. I think he would have been proud to have watched his life work in the well produced video that showcases some of the best hash anyone has to offer.

After the film, we had a short time to roll a freshly made hash joint and hop onto a zoom meeting with the organiser and late partner of Frenchy, Kimberly Cannoli, or better known as Madame Cannoli. She is a beautiful person that organized a successful live stream with Frenchy fans from all over the world. We represented South Africa and met and discussed the film with some amazing people from as far Canada, Spain, Netherlands and even Brazil. It was surreal to listen to the famous Queen of Hashish, Mila Jansen, speak and smile about Frenchy and the wonderfully curated film, what an honour.
After an unbelievable day and night of learning and watching everything hash, we played drums and sat around the bonfire talking and sharing one of the finest ice hash joints.
